AIA Arizona would like to thank all of you that have renewed your membership for 2010. We understand that 2009 was a challenging year and know that 2010 continues to present challenges.

If you have not renewed your membership, we want you to be aware of a payment plan that is currently being offered by AIA National. You can make monthly payments for your dues. Please contact Charnissa at 602-252-4200 orcharnissa@aia-arizona.org and she will assist you in setting up this plan.

If your circumstances are preventing you from paying your dues this year, please contact Charnissa and discuss alternatives that might be available to you.

AIA Arizona Eco Month: Where We Work
Experience a lecture and tour of the Collier Center and Gensler’s office showcasing sustainability in the work place. Jami Vallelonga with CB Richard Ellis, the Management group for the building, will discuss the actions they took to achieve LEED EB Silver certification for this existing building. Mark Harkey and Jen Gozzi with Gensler will then discuss the Gensler office space within the Collier Center, which achieved LEED CI Silver certification. Art by Architects 
– Call for entries! Art by Architects is a juried exhibition and sale of fine art created by members and spouses of the Arizona Component of the American Institute of Architects. $5.00 entry fee per piece. Survival 101 Seminar: Photography for Architects – Learn how to get the most out of your camera, how to optimize photographs, basic camera functions and editing during this two part seminar being held at the AIA Arizona office on March 17 and 24 from 8:00-10:00a.m. Earn 4 LU’s. IDP Six Month Rule – The Six-Month Rule will go into effect for all interns at 12:01 a.m. EDT on 1 July 2010. The Six-Month Rule is already in effect for interns that established an NCARB Record on or after 1 July 2009. Click here for further information.

Associate Paper Party – Knock out all of your paper work for IDP and the A.R.E. on Saturday, March 27th, from 2pm-5pm in each of the AIA offices. Join us for an afternoon filled with help for all A.R.E. / IDP paperwork that you can get lost in. We’ll have “experts” come and share one on one knowledge and sit down and help figure out those sticky details. RSVP to Charnissa.

AIA National Convention – The AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition takes place June 10-12 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Register by March 29 and save up to $100. All first-time architect, associate, and international associate members who join the AIA between May 3, 2009 and June 12, 2010 receive complimentary convention registration. AIA Arizona Photography Contest – Submissions wanted for the Annual 2010 AIA Arizona Photography Competition! Submit digital photos, sized 5″x7″ at 150 DPI, by Monday, April 5th, 2010 and enter to win fantastic prizes worth $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd place and $200 for 3rd place. Grand Canyon Chapter Meeting – On Friday, March 12, 2010, AIA Grand Canyon Chapter presents a tour of the Ecosa Institute in Prescott, Arizona. Meet at the Firehouse Kitchen (218 W. Goodwin St. in the Old Firehouse station) at 12:00p.m. for lunch and then walk to the Ecosa facility afterward. Click here for details.
