The staff of AIA Arizona want to wish Donna McQuery a great retirement. Donna has been a vital part of the Southern Arizona Chapter. We will miss you answering the phones and keeping us all in line. Good luck to you and Guy and we hope you enjoy this great opportunity to relax and enjoy life.

AIA Phoenix Metro Chapter Meeting – Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:30a.m. there will be a tour of Duffy High School. RSVP to Diana Smith.

John Rogers, FAIA – We are sad to announce the passing of John Rogers, FAIA, the founder of RNL in Denver. Click here for John Rogers’ memorial announcement.

Robert Oliver – Past ASU Professor, Robert Oliver passed away Sunday, July 18th, 2010 at the age of 90. A simple memorial will be held this Thursday, the 22nd at 1:30 PM, at The Terraces Retirement Community Chapel on North 16th Street in Phoenix.

Breakfast of Champions

AIA Arizona is pleased to announce a Breakfast of Champions with Scott Perkinson on Wednesday, July 28 from 8:00 to 9:00 am at the AIA Arizona office.

Scott owns Perkinson Reprographics and has been a huge supporter of the architectural community for many years. Scott is running in District 19 for the State Legislature House of Representatives, and is doing so with Clean Elections. He would like an opportunity to chat with the architects about concerns that need to be addressed.

Since Scott is running Clean Elections, we encourage members to contribute to the Arizona ArchiPAC.

Are you a regular reader of particular newspapers or magazines?  Do you follow architecture blogs, Twitter feeds and/or Facebook pages?

The AIA Arizona Communications Committee would like to solicit volunteers to be a part of the Rapid Response Team Initiative to assist them in monitoring and responding to issues of relevance to AIA Members and the profession in general. Being a team member won’t require much more than what you are already doing: reading and monitoring media outlets for articles and information that interest you! If you are an avid consumer of media – traditional, new or social – and would like to help us out, please respond to Alexandra Evjen for more information
