Just the Facts,
NOV | 3 | 2010

Dear Alexandra,

The Gadsden Hotel  in 2007, Tubac Golf Resort in 2008, Phoenix Convention Center in 2009, Tempe Transportation Center in 2010….What’s the common thread beyond the fact that all are in Arizona?

Well, for me, all are venues for long-range planning sessions that I have had the opportunity to participate in. This year’s session was attended by members representing all of our chapters and committee chairs. The group met recently in the Tempe Transportation Center.

The meeting was orchestrated by Tina Litteral, Hon. AIA and was facilitated by Brent Davis, Hon. AIA. Following an opening statement from President-Elect Joe Worrall, AIA, we promptly broke into small groups and commenced a distillation process reviewing the language of the previously year’s plan with the intent of adding clarity and providing metrics for future assessment. Working through lunch, we all found ourselves immersed in each group’s mission. The cross pollination of ideas actually yielded an engaging day. The revised plan provides the structure to support programs that will add value and meaning to our membership.

The plan will be posted to the website upon adoption by the AIA Arizona Board.

Kevin Morrow, AIA
2010 AIA Arizona President

Affiliate Sponsored Chapter Event
– The Annual Affiliate’s event began as a way for AIA Affiliate Members to support local architects and their customers while marketing their companies and products at the same time. In its history, the Affiliate Board and its members have been a very active and strong group within AIA in the Phoenix Metro area. Through their own initiative, AIA Affiliate members have created an event where they provide the evening’s speaker at a less traditional chapter meeting, supplemented the cost for architects to attend, and designed an environment for affiliates and architects to interact. Click here for information on becoming a sponsor.

Phoenix Metro Affiliate Lunch – The next meeting will be held on November 4, 2010 from 12pm to 1pm in the AIA Arizona office. RSVP to Diana Smith.
